James Johnson
CALIFORNIA — James Albert Johnson of Marysville, California, passed away May 25, 2007 at the Mather VA Hospital in Sacramento, California. He was born to the late Thomas and Grace Opal (Midgett) Johnson on December 1, 1923 in Elvins.
On June 21, 1950 he was married to Twyla Roe (Burch) Johnson, who survives. To this union were born five children, all of whom survive: Gayle Wright of Marysville, California, Tom (Barbara) Johnson of Rolla, Mary (Bill) Martini of Butternut, Wisconsin, Brenda (Mike) Neumann of Prineville, Oregon and Vella Cloward of Rolla. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Alfred Johnson, at an early age and three sisters, Violet Porter (1995), Opal House (1996), and Christine Poland (2001). He is survived by six sisters, Irene (Dave) Hart of Chaffee, Alma (Don) Woodcock of Ironton, Annabelle Underwood of Park Hills, Z. Katherine Johnson of St. Louis, Nancy (Bob) Twidwell of Farmington and Barbara (Bill) Ross of Park Hills.
He served his country in the Marines and fought during World War II. His burial was at the Dixon National VA Cemetery in Dixon, California with a 21 gun salute, military service on May 31, 2007. He also fought a long, hard battle with multiple sclerosis for many years, with his loving wife right beside him, and being such a wonderful caregiver.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends, neighbors and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
