Knightettes shut out in season opener

FARMINGTON — The Farmington girls tennis team faced one of the strongest teams on its schedule for a season-opening dual on Tuesday, and suffered a 9-0 loss to visiting Cape Central.

The closest singles match of the day saw Montana Patterson battle to an 8-4 defeat against Page Kinder. Courtney Jensen fell 8-3 to Lindsey Pingel in No. 2 singles, while Alicia Murray and Jenny May each lost 8-1. Kaitlyn Crocker and Megan Politte were each shut out in singles action.

Politte and Andrea Contreras lost 8-4 in their doubles match, and the teams of Jensen/Murray and Crocker/May were defeated by 8-4 margins.

Farmington will host Arcadia Valley on Thursday to begin conference play.
