Blackcats shut-out Eagles, Lakeland downs MAC in three

GRANDVIEW — The Fredericktown Blackcats dominated the Grandview Eagles  in a game that was called at half-time due to the weather, 46-0. The score at the end of the first quarter was 21-0. This is the second shut-out of the season for Blackcats’ defense .

Quarterback Nathan Wilkerson threw a five yard touchdown pass to Mike Crowell. Crowell also blocked a punt attempt and ran the ball in for a touchdown. Ryan Sawyer carried the ball seven times for a total of 100 yards. David Penwell ran the ball four times carrying in 69 yards. Joey Lewandowski rushed 13 yards for a touchdown and also intercepted a pass for another touchdown.

The Blackcats (2-0) will host Herculaneum on Friday.

College Volleyball

Lakeland 3, MAC 0

PARK HILLS — The MAC Cardinals played hard but their efforts weren’t rewarded when they were defeated by Lakeland in three close games, 30-28, 30-27, 30-21. Andrea Lucas led in kills with nine. Lucas also led with three aces. Chelsea Pinson had 14 digs.

The Cardinals (9-4 overall) will play at the SWIC tournament on Friday.
