Five people were injured Saturday in accidents in Ste. Genevieve County

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Karen S. Naeger, Ste. Genevieve, was seriously injured when she was ejected from the car in which she was riding after it struck another car.

The report indicates a vehicle driven by Joseph G. Naeger, 49, Ste. Genevieve, was northbound on U.S. 61 when Michael G. Hermann, 15, Ste. Genevieve, drove his vehicle from the shoulder onto the road.

Naeger’s vehicle exited the west side of the road and both the driver and passenger were ejected. Hermann’s vehicle came to rest off the eastbound side of the highway.

Karen Naeger was taken by Air Evac Helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital. The accident happened about 5 p.m. in Ste. Genevieve County on U.S. 61, a mile south of Cottonwood Lane.

Four teenagers sustained minor to moderate injuries in a two-car crash Saturday on Interstate 55, near Route DD in Ste. Genevieve County.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a car driven by Brooke M. Cummings, 27, St. Charles, was passing a vehicle driven by Jack R. Longgrear, 83, Arlington, Tex. Police say Longgrear’s car traveled into the passing lane striking Cummings’ vehicle and forcing it off the road and into the median where it overturned.

Cummings was taken by Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital along with passengers in the car, Brianne V. Cummings, 17, St. Charles, Brittany D. Fischer, 18, St. Charles and Samantha R. Sovar, 17, O’Fallon, Mo.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. Saturday.
