The stores are decorated and people are making plans for the holidays. But for someone struggling with grief, the holidays can be a stressful time – a time of sadness, depression and even physical pain. Remembering past traditions can bring fresh tears as we wonder how we will get through the coming days when others are celebrating.
If you are wishing you could sleep away the next few weeks, you’re not alone.
On Nov. 10, HospiceCare, Inc. will offer a free seminar that will provide different ways that people who are grieving can cope with the upcoming holidays. The free seminar will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the HospiceCare, Inc. office, located in the North College Center of Mineral Area College.
Sally Simpson, MSW and director of social services and bereavement at HospiceCare, will host the seminar.
“Grief is hard work, but particularly difficult during the holidays,” Simpson said. “We have lost a part of ourselves and need to adapt to that loss.”
You don’t have to dread the upcoming holiday season, Simpson said.
“If you’re struggling with grief, call the HospiceCare, Inc. office. We’re here for you!”
