Christmas celebration set at MAC
With an eye toward the coming holidays, Mineral Area College classified staff members are planning their annual Christmas Celebration, complete with refreshments, holiday singing and visits with Santa Claus.
The holiday tradition is set for 5 p.m., Dec. 3, in the Arts and Sciences Building, and is, as usual, free and open to the public.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone gather for the Christmas Celebration this year,” said Nancy Collier, who as executive administrative assistant for MAC’s dean of Arts and Sciences, is a member of classified staff. “I think we enjoy organizing the fun as much as people enjoy the treats, music and festivities. It’s a nice kick-off to the holiday season!” Collier added that MAC’s Recruitment and Retention Committee is helping to plan this year’s celebration.
MAC Counselor and Recruitment and Retention Committee member Mark Easter will emcee this year’s Christmas event. Joining Santa will be MAC Music Instructor Greg Graf, the MAC Marvels (a choral group made up of college employees and students), and Kyle Cox with the MAC Steel Drum Band. Children will be invited to participate in a sing-along and they will light the tree.
Mrs. Claus will read a storybook tale to the children, and Santa Claus himself will be available after the program to hear requests from the children.
A couple of gift baskets are being collected for a giveaway. Money from tickets sold will benefit St. Francois County Community Partnership.
