Rebels place fifth in Hancock tourney

ST. LOUIS — The Central Rebels wrestling team traveled to the Hancock Invitational and after losing three duals they picked up two wins to finish tied for fifth place in the tournament. Pacific won the championship.

The Rebels defeated New Madrid 42-30 and Maplewood 36-18 for their two wins, and they lost to Hancock 51-24, Union 48-22, and Ritenour 51-16.

Three wrestlers finished 4-1 on the day. Mike Kean scored two falls in his four wins at 119 pounds, Chris Mullins (135) had one fall, and Tyler Friend (285) won all four of his wins by fall.

Josh Hampton (140) went 3-2 with two falls, and Justin Parker (125), Trey Mallory (130), Lonnie Nations (171) and Darryl Boyer (189) were all 2-3 in the tournament.

Jake Carr (145) was 0-1 with an injury default and was unable to wrestle any more matches. Cameron Parker (160) had a rough day, losing all five of his matches.

Central will wrestle again on Saturday when they host their own tournament.
