Fredericktown Weightlifting meet
The 11th Annual Fredericktown Invitiational Weight meet was held February 7, 2008, at FHS.
Fredericktown won the Senior Division with 243 points. Perryville was next with 175. They were followed by: Chester, 146; Valle, 64; Chaffee, 44; Cape Centrall 35; Kingston, 35; Park Hills, 30; Grandview, 2; and Seckman, 1.
In the Junior Division, Kingston was first with 149 points. Other scores: Chester, 126; Seckman, 115; Fredericktown, 114; Grandview, 86; Chaffee, 56; Valle, 50; Sikeston, 32; Perryville, 24; and Park Hills, 23.
Fredericktown head Football Coach Shannon Henson said the field of teams was expanded to 11 this year, and the meet “had the biggest turnout on record. It was along night, but very exciting and worth the effort for our area athletes.
Henson said he appreciated the sportsmanship and help from all of the coaches and athletes. he also said he would like input on possibly changing the meet to a Saturday morning, next year.
Henson also listed many of the meet record holders. A new record was established by an FHS athlete in this year’s meet. In the 191-215 Division, Power Clean, Daniels 295 pounds. Seven other records were established by athletes from other schools at this year’s meet.
