County loses second soldier in Iraq
Private First Class Andy Habsieger was killed last week by an improvised exploding device (IED).
Habsieger is the second Jefferson County soldier killed in Iraq.
A 2004 graduate of Festus High School, Habsieger earned “Mr. Football” honors in 2003, playing both offense and defense.
His older brother, Jacob Habsieger, also serves in the U.S. Army.
He was just a few weeks away from returning home when killed in action.
Habsieger joins Staff Sgt. Brandon Wallace of Crystal City as Jefferson County’s only native sons killed in the Iraq War.
