City holding annual cleanup

Farmington is giving residents several ways to help with spring cleaning.

The annual “Spring Cleanup” will be held the week of Apr. 14 starting with Ward 1. City workers will visit a different ward each day collecting items sitting near the curb. Items can be larger than what is normally collected by trash services, but should be small enough for two men to handle.

The dates of the cleanup will be Apr. 14 in Ward 1, Apr. 15 for Ward 2, Apr. 16 for Ward 3, Apr. 17 for Ward 4. The final work day of the week will be used to make another pass through the wards collecting what may have been missed previously.

Additionally the “city farm”, property located off Pimville Road, will be open Saturdays starting Apr. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. Leaves, limbs, grass clippings and other yard waste will be accepted.

Plastic or paper bags will need to be emptied and removed from the site.

Due to problems will illegal dumping, the city land is not open to the public except during the above mentioned times, and then only to city residents.

The farm is on Pimville Road approximately one mile west of Bray Road. There is a sign at the entrance.
