Washington County jury hands down verdict

POTOSI — A Washington County jury found a Fredericktown man not guilty of a felony charge but guilty of a misdemeanor charge.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, jurors heard prosecutor’s evidence against Ricky Eugene Moore, 54, who had been indicted on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree domestic assault.

After hearing evidence and arguments from both sides, the jury deliberated for an hour and a half. They found Moore not guilty of unlawful use of a weapon but guilty of third-degree domestic assault.

During the second phase of the jury trial, the jury recommended a sentence of one year in the county jail and a $1,000 fine.

His sentencing is scheduled at 4 p.m. May 14 before Judge David Hoven.
