Update: I-55 improvements

Weather permitting, a contractor hired by MoDOT will start work on Interstate 55 in Perry County Wednesday, at mid-morning. Northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane during construction.

The project includes undersealing the pavement and then resurfacing from Route B near Biehle to Route T near Perryville in Perry County. Once undersealing takes place, the pavement could appear even rougher. Drivers should expect rough riding for approximately three-four weeks until the asphalt resurfacing which follows completes the process and smooths the pavement for drivers.

Work is expected to be wrapped up by the end of the year. The $3,210,080 project was awarded to APAC-Missouri, Inc., Columbia, in March.
