Warriors pick up 17th win, Blackcats fall to De Soto

STE. GENEVIEVE — The Valle Warriors continued their winning ways on Tuesday with a a 7-4 win over the St. Vincent Indians. After giving up two runs  in the top of the first, the Warriors scored three in the bottom of the inning and never trailed again.

Mike Greminger picked up the win, giving up only two hits and two walks in pitching the first four innings of the game. Andrew Bader picked up the save as he came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh to get a ground out to third to end the game.

Greminger also supplied support at bat with one of his two hits a solo home run. Nathan Geile hit two doubles and drove in three runs. Casey Koller was 2-4 with two RBI. Christian Moulton hit a double and Aaron Basler and Cody Bieser each had one hit for Valle.

The win improves their record to 17-5, and they will close out their regular season play on Friday against Ste. Genevieve.

De Soto 6, Fredericktown 2

DE SOTO — The Fredericktown Blackcats could not figure out the pitching of De Soto’s Neal Finch. Finch gave up only four hits as the Dragons defeated the Blackcats 6-2 with both runs being unearned. Finch also supplied the Dragons with a home run.

Matt Smallen and Rusty Allgier both hit doubles against Finch, and Logan Stevens and Jake Sikes had the other two hits, both singles.

Eli Skaggs picked up the loss, giving up 10 hits to the Dragons with only three of the six runs earned.  

Fredericktown, 6-13, will play at Perryville this afternoon, weather permitting.
