Accident Sunday on Highway 8

A Sunday morning accident in Washington County sent a Steelville man to the hospital.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Jeffrey H. Richards, 42, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 8 at a high rate of speed. He failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled off the right side of the road. The police report indicates the driver overcorrected, steering left, causing his car to travel off the left side of the road and overturning several times, ejecting Richards.

He was taken by Washington County Ambulance to Washington County Memorial Hospital.

The accident happened about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, about a half mile west of Franklin Sub Road.
