Rain forces cancellation at St. Francois County Raceway
FARMINGTON — Weather claimed another Saturday night at St. Francois County Raceway.
Mother Nature had flirted with the cancellation several times earlier. Finally it had come to the end as rains fell around 6:00 p.m.. In doing so, it made her the biggest winner of the year. Her total now stands at three.
Saturday’s program was scheduled to be very exciting as the Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA type modifieds, Pure Streets and Multis were on hand. Also scheduled for the evening were the Modlites or Dwarf Cars.
Drivers in the Modlites were making their first appearance at SFCR in 2008. Mike Zaricor of Farmington, Vince Conway of Mineral Point, and David Huffman of House Springs were some of the drivers ready to compete. The class will be scheduled again in the future. Saturday evening will be the first $5.00 Grandstand event of the season. Gates open at 4:00 and racing beginning around 7:00 p.m.. Regular price admission is $10 for the grandstand and $25 for a pit pass.
