Another joins county commission race

FARMINGTON — With Ron VarVera’s recent withdrawal from the county commission race, a new person has filed as a candidate.

Filings reopened May 16 because VarVera, the incumbent, withdrew from the race. Ed Salsman filed as a Democrat, joining Charlie Umfleet and Glenn Rickus. Bret Burgess is running as a Republican.

Candidates have until 4 p.m. May 22 to file for the position.

The primary is Aug. 5. Winners of the primary from each party will then face off in November.
