North County awards bid to Total Electric
The North County School Board met for 30 minutes Thursday night to award a bid for electrical improvements to Desloge Elementary School and to rename the two elementary schools.
Total Electric and McDowell revised their bids as requested by the school board last week. The bids had come in higher than the district had budgeted.
Total Electric reduced their bid from $149,000 to $139,174 by getting a better price on copper.
McDowell was able to reduce their bid from $206,049 to $156,609 by meeting with Ameren to get more precise measurements.
After reviewing the bids, the school board awarded the project to Total Electric.
Superintendent Dr. Yancy Poorman thanked the companies for their efforts to trim costs. He had only given the companies a week to trim their proposals because the project is time-sensitive. It needs to be complete by the next school year.
Also during the meeting, the board voted to rename the elementary schools, using the elementary students’ recommendations. The Desloge third and fourth grade attendance center will be North County Parkside Elementary while the Bonne Terre kindergarten through second grade attendance center will be North County Primary.
