An accident involving a four-wheeler and a Pontiac Sunfire resulted in the death of a 15-year-old Potosi boy Wednesday. The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Highway 8 in Washington County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2003 Polaris driven by David Forister, 14, Potosi, entered the roadway from a ditch and crossed into the path of a 2001 Sunfire driven by Robert Kratky, 36, Potosi. The Sunfire struck the side of the four-wheeler. Both Forister and his passenger, Zachary Barker, 15, Potosi, were thrown off the four-wheeler.
Barker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Brian Declue. Forister suffered serious injuries and was taken to Childrens Hospital by Arch Helicopter.
In an unrelated accident on Wednesday, a two-vehicle accident on US 67 at Hedgeapple Lane in St. Francois County resulted in two people going to the hospital.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Sandra Ledbetter, 51, Bonne Terre, was traveling westbound on Hedgeapple Lane. A 1993 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on US 67. Ledbetter failed to yield the right of way and pulled directly into the path of Nash. The front center of Nash’s vehicle struck the left side of Ledbetter’s vehicle.
Ledbetter suffered serious injuries and was flown by Arch Helicopter to St. John’s Mercy Center. Nash suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Parkland Health Center by St. Francois County Ambulance.
