Charles Herbert (Herb) Grounds
BLAIRSVILLE, Georgia — Charles Herbert (Herb) Grounds, age 75, of Blairsville, Georgia and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Esther, MO passed away on February 21, 2008 in Lake Worth, FL. He was born on January 6, 1933 in Esther, MO to the late Charles and Pauline Lewis Grounds.
After serving in the US military, stationed in Alaska, Herb and his wife June moved to Fort Lauderdale in the late 1950’s. Herb joined the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in 1959, retiring in 1983. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, June, children Terri Tucker, Lori Korn (Carl), and John Grounds (Ana), along with grandchildren Matthew Peets, Jana, Alyssa, & Jenifer Grounds, and Kristina Korn, as well as great-grandchildren Evan, Mason, and Ella Peets. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 6:00 PM at Esther Baptist Church, 412 7th St., Park Hills, MO.
