Jo Ann (Barger) Gates Mungle
Jo Ann (Barger) Gates Mungle, 74, of Fredericktown, Missouri died July 11, 2008 at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home in Fredericktown.
She was born December 17, 1933 in Shawneetown, Illinois, a daughter of Omer and Bertha (Watkins) Barger.
On September 19, 1949 she was married to Irving Gates who preceded her in death on August 21, 1980.
On June 10, 1981 in Tremont, Illinois, she married Jimmy Joe Mungle who preceded her in death on November 27, 2002.
Mrs. Mungle was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Roy Allen Gates; four brothers, Sonny Barger, Jack Barger, Paul Nelson and John Nelson; one sister, Francis Chamberlain; and two great-great-grandsons.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois Ann Gates of Old Shawneetown, Illinois and Laura Lee Perry of Perryville, Missouri; one brother, Robert Barger of Redbud, Illinois; three sisters, Donna Kay Harvey of Slidell, Illinois, Mary Lee Buckman of Ridgeway, Illinois and Sherry Sue Rigsby of Old Shawneetown, Illinois.
She had three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mungle worked as an electronics technician for the Hughs Aircraft Manufacturing Company in California.
She enjoyed flower gardening and playing the guitar.
Services were held July 14, 2008 at Wilson Funeral Home with Brother Donald Cox officiating. Burial was at Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown, Illinois.
