Hospital sorts through financial issues

Leaders of the Iron County Hospital are going through tough times, trying to sort out financial issues they say were caused by mismanagement.

Board President Ron Hopkins told the board recently that the records were so disorganized it was difficult to offer an accurate financial statement to the board.

He said invoices are missing and some were recently found unopened. Medicare forms weren’t handled correctly which means they might not get repayment on some of the older bills.

Hopkins said they have been able to start turning things around under former interim CEO, Gary Moore and current interim CEO Cheri Barton.
