Man charged with animal abuse

An Iron County man has been charged with felony animal abuse and resisting arrest.

Tony Hartwick, 42, is accused of dragging a horse on a gravel road behind a four-wheeler on July 29. He is being charged as a persistent offender.

When police went to investigate, he resisted arrest.

The horse is receiving treatment at the Humane Society’s Longmeadow Rescue Ranch near Union.
