Raiders, Bulldogs and Knightettes win on Monday

HILLSBORO — The North County Raiders improved their soccer record to 4-2 with a 2-1 win over the Hillsboro Hawks in the Hawks tournament.

The Raiders led 2-0 until late in the game when the Hawks scored the first goal that the Raiders’ defense has given up in the past three games.

The Raiders had only seven shots on goal, but goalkeeper Cody Huff had to turn back 12 shots made by the Hawks.

Ethan Salazar came up with the first score for the Raiders on an assist by Phillip Wrabetz. Salazar played a hand in the second goal as well.

On a breakaway, Hillsboro’s goalkeeper came up to make the stop and Salazar and the goalkeeper collided. The ball squirted free, giving Zach Harris opportunity to put it in the back of the unguarded net.

The Raiders will play the Bayless J.V. team in a continuation of the tournament on Thursday.
