John David Hammond

John David Hammond, 74, of Fredericktown (Formerly Ironton) died October 10, 2008 in St. Louis.

He was born December 10, 1933 in O’Fallon, Illinois, a son of the late Charles and Cecil (Patton) Hammond.

On April 6, 1963 he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Beaty who survives.

Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by one son, Mark David; three brothers, Clinton, Charles and Elmer Hammond; and one sister, Mae Stroke.

He is survived by his wife Sandra K. Hammond of Fredericktown; one brother, Bobby Hammond of Lecompte, Louisiana; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Alice Herbstreith of Freeburg, Illinois and Nancy Lee Bennett of Dupo, Illinois; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Hammond was a member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, serving as a Lay Speaker, a District Lay Leader, and was involved in many other areas of the church.

He was a member of the Disabled Americas Veterans (DAV) and also served his country in the United States Navy.

Services were held October 13, 2008 at Bryson Funeral Home with the Reverend Rick Lasley officiating. Burial was at Arcadia Valley Memorial Park.
