City receives award

Representatives from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) were in Fredericktown Oct. 3 to present the city with a grant for $15,000 as part of the bank’s Capital Community Award Program.

The 2008 Missouri Capital Community was chosen based on their progressive approach toward economic development and improvement. The long-term goal of this program is to double the number of jobs in the city by the year 2020. The selection committee was also impressed with the involvement of the community’s member financial institutions: First State Community Bank, New Era Bank, Ozarks Federal Savings and Loan Association, Southwest Bank of St. Louis and Sun Security Band.
