Hearing on Nonattainment Zone

The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen has passed a resolution asking the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to reconsider it’s recommendation to include Ste. Genevieve County in the St. Louis Nonattainment Zone (StLNA).

A hearing is scheduled on the matter on Dec. 4 at the Governor’s Office Building in Jefferson City. Anyone who cannot attend the hearing can submit comments in writing to the DNR until 5 p.m. on Dec. 11. Written comments should be sent to Chief, Operations Section, Department of Natural Resources, Air Pollution Control Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176. They can also be e-mailed to apcprulespn@dnr.mo.gov.

Recommendations by DNR must be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by March 12, 2009. After the EPA determines what the final designations will be, state guidelines will be put into place.
