Fiercely cold winter wakeup
We’re waking up to winter in the Parkland today — in a big way.
A blast of Arctic air moved in overnight and forecasters say with fierce wind, it should feel like 0 degrees outside this morning.
The high Sunday will be only in the teens with a blustery northwest wind between 18 and 22 miles per hour and gusts as high as 33 miles an hour.
“The wind chill today will be between 0 and 10 degrees below,” said Mark Britt, meteorologist. “Bundle up and remember to always carry a blanket in the car with you.”
Sunday night’s forecast is for a low around 4 degrees with the fierce winds continuing to blow. The high Monday will be 22, under sunny skies.
There’s a chance of freezing rain and sleet throughout the day Tuesday with rain and Tuesday night and a chance of some snow on Wednesday.
“At this point, there could be some accumulations, but it’s too early to say,” said Britt.
Winter arrived officially at 6:04 a.m. today.
