Arnold mayor criticized

As the first city in Missouri to install red light traffic cameras in 2005, Arnold has been ground zero for controversy over their use.

The simmering debate has been re-ignited by a group of past and present city officials who are banding together to force a public referendum on the issue.

Led by former Councilman Paul Vinson and current councilmen Matthew Hay and Jerel Poor, a group calling themselves “Don’t Tread on Me” has collected 1,000 signatures for presentation to the full City Council.

The group’s petition aims to force a vote on the use of traffic cameras.
