Claudia Vani

FARMINGTON — Claudia M. (Picou) Vani of Farmington, formerly of Kaskaskia, IL was born May 12, 1949 in Kaskaskia, IL. She passed away January 10, 2009 at the age of 59 years.

She married Joseph A. Vani of Farmington on November 25, 1972, who survives. Also survived by daughters, Julia (Mike) Long of Murphysboro, Ill., Anna Vani of St. Louis; Brothers, David Picou of Kaskaskia, Ill., Leo (Amy) Picou of White Hall, Ill., Ben Picou of Chester, Ill., Ed Picou of Kaskaskia, Ill., Dan (Yolanda) Picou of Galatia, Ill., Ted (Tanis) Picou of Galatia, Ill., Peter (Mona) Picou of Kaskaskia, Ill.; Sister, Toni (special friend, Steve Barber) Picou of Marissa, Ill.; Brother-in-law, Raymond Martin of Carbondale, Ill. She is also survived by Grandchild, Amelia Long; Mother, Julia (Layton) Picou of Kaskaskia, Ill.

Preceded in death by Brother, Tim Picou; Sister, Christina Martin; Father, Claude M. Picou.

Claudia graduated from Chester High School in 1967 and from SIU Carbondale with a B.S. in Education in 1972.

Visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home, Ste. Genevieve, on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. Service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Kaskaskia, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 10 am. The Clergy will be Rev. Richard Kasznel. Burial will be at Kaskaskia Cemetery, in Kaskaskia, Ill. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or BJC Hospice.
