Charles B. Venker
Charles B. Venker, long-time resident of Fredericktown and former owner of Dicus Drug Store, passed away at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 76.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Rita E. Venker. He is survived by their five children: David of St. Louis, MO; Ruth of Chesapeake, VA; Greg of Dallas, TX; Bob of St. Charles, MO; and Tom of Springfield, MO. He had loving daughters-in-law and a son-in-law as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Charlie was born on April 1, 1932 in St. Louis. He graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and married his late wife and business partner, Rita Venker. They moved to Fredericktown in 1957 where they lived until their retirement from Dicus. Charlie and Rita moved to St. Louis in 2000 in order to be closer to their children.
Charlie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for many years.
In keeping with his generous nature, Charles donated his body to the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Plans are being made for a memorial mass to be held at St. Michael’s Church in May.
