County avoids St. Louis nonattainment area

Even though Ste. Genevieve County has been identified as out of compliance for ozone air quality, it has been left out of the St. Louis Ozone Nonattainment Area (StLNA). The decision was announced by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

In 2008 DNR announced it was recommending that Ste. Genevieve be included in the StLNA area. The decision means that Ste. Genevieve County has avoided stricter regulations which would have cost local residents more money.
