Home Ownership Made Easier Class on February 19.
University of Missouri Extension of St. Francois County is offering a two hour class for home buyers: Home Ownership Made Easier (HOME). The HOME class is Thursday, February 19, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the St. Francois County University Extension Center, Courthouse Annex, Farmington.
According to instructor Rebecca Blocker – University Housing Specialist; low interest rates, lower home prices and a large selection make this a buyer’s market and an excellent time to consider home ownership. The HOME training and notebook will cover financial preparedness, how much house you can afford to buy, understanding your credit report, insurance, predatory lending, mortgages, finding the right home for you, home inspections, negotiating, closing costs, and avoiding foreclosure. Participants will also receive information on basic home maintenance and energy saving techniques.
HOME is being offered in conjunction with USDA Rural Development. Participants completing the class meet educational requirements for USDA and other special home loan programs including reduced closing costs and interest rates.
