Pratt named 2009 Sweetheart Queen

It was an evening of formal party wear completing a week of festivities leading up the crowning of the 2009 Sweetheart Queen at Farmington High School.

Chelsea Pratt, representing the Theater Guild, took first place and received her honors before a large crowd of parents and fellow students Saturday evening during the annual Sweetheart Dance. Pratt’s win came after she performed “American Boy” during the talent show portion of the Sweetheart competition earlier in the week. She was escorted by David Jackson.

Pratt rose throughout the ranks of about a dozen girls vying for the title of  2009 Sweetheart. Each year the high school holds the talent show and dance, with candidates sponsored by organizations within the school.

Shalimar Moore, sponsored by ROTC, placed first runner up. Escorted by Scott Buttrey, she had performed a tap routine to “Standing Outside the Fire” and played the electric violin during the talent competition.

Olivia Armstrong took second runner up honors. She was escorted by Nick Baker and represented the Cheerleaders. She had performed a dance with acrobatics and stunts during the talent show earlier in the week.

The dance was held Saturday evening at the high school.
