Robbs, White named Parkland Health Center Star Service Employees

Parkland Health Center is pleased to announce its Star Service Employees for January and February 2009.  Jennifer Robbs, RN, OCN was honored for January, and Leona White, LPN, for February. This award was formerly known as Employee of the Month.

Jennifer Robbs has worked at Parkland Health Center for more than two years. She began as a nurse in the oncology department, and she has served as the infusion nurse since the Infusion Center opened at Parkland—Bonne Terre. A co-worker who nominated her for this award said of her, “She is an outstanding clinical nurse who cares deeply for her patients. She often goes out of her way, above and beyond for patients and is also willing to assist other departments.” Robbs humbly stated, “I’m not here for an award, I’m here to work. I was very surprised about this award!”

Leona White has worked at Parkland Health Center for ten years and serves as a night shift nurse on the medical/surgical unit. A co-worker said of White, “She is one of our night shift employees who lives our Journey to Excellence values on a daily basis, and she has served as a preceptor/mentor to many of our new nurses on the med/surg unit. She is very compassionate and concerned about her patients; always asking them if there is anything else she can do or get for them.” When asked what she likes about her job, White replied, “My co-workers; the night shift nurses are wonderful. Of course I love patient care — that’s why I’m here.” White said that she was very surprised and honored by this award.
