Eighth Grade Lady Cats

The Eighth Grade Lady Cats took fourth in the Conference Tournament, and ended their season with a 9-6 record (7-3 in conference).
The conference tournament opened with a 22-19 victory over Arcadia Valley. Anna Godsey led the way with six points. Taylor Capone, Terra Helm, and Brittany Wanner each scored four, Kara Lunsford and Mikaela Tremaine scored two, each; and Taylor Clark scored one.
In the semifinals, the Cats lost 41-13 to North County. Lunsford led with five. Godsey, Wanner, Helm, and Brooke Tonjum each scored two.
In the third place game, the Lady Cats lost 22-19 to Farmington. Godsey scored ten, Lunsford had seven, and Helm and Capone each made a free throw.
The Seventh Grade Lady Cats basketball team finished the season with a record of 4-5.
The season ended with the seventh grade conference tournament in Park Hills. The Lady Cats lost their opener to North County. It was the team’s third game against North County on the season.
“They put forth hard work and dedication, but were unable to pull off the win against them,” Coach Shonda Matthews said.
McKenzie Stockman led the Lady Cats with 36 points scored this season. Paige Umfleet scored 31, Tayla Kemp scored 30, and guards Alex Long and Sierra Sutton each scored 25.
“The girls have improved tremendously this season and we hope to see them all again next year,’’ Matthews said.
