Historic Timeline Event March 28 & 29, 2009

Once again the Historic Timeline Event will be held this year in the Wanda Priest/JC Park. We have made some changes to this year’s event. Friday night, March 27th, we will kick off the event with a square dance in the park. Bruce Punches and the Arlington Band will be performing. The public is invited to attend. We ask that you bring canned goods as we are having a food drive for the Madison County Food Pantry. You may exchange canned goods for raffle tickets. In the event of inclement weather, the dance will be held at the Madison County Feed Store. The dance will start at 7:00 p.m. and last until we all get tired. As a courtesy to the campers, we ask that you please do not cut through the camp for the dance. Please use North Main Street. It will be dark and we would not want anyone getting hurt on ropes, tent stakes, fire pits, etc.

This year we have been able to add several new items to the event. We will have cowboy action shooters who will be performing a skit several times throughout the weekend. We will also have quick draw shooters demonstrating. We will have cannon shooting demonstrations. There will be knife and hawk demonstrations, primitive bow shooting and Scottish Highland games that the public may participate in. We will also have some of the traditional favorites such as the candy cannon, games and storytelling for kids and the anvil shoot. There will be an insert in the Democrat News March 18th, 2009 paper for all the details and times.

This year we are once again supporting the Madison County Sheltered Workshop. Please be generous with your donations. We hope to see you at the event and have a very good time.

To get to the event from Hwy 67, take the Hwy 72 exit and proceed east about 2 miles to the court house in the center of town. From there we will be one block north. If coming from the east or north, at the intersection of Hwys OO & 72 and Lincoln Drive, proceed on Lincoln Drive to the fourth street on the right at the bridge (North Mine LaMotte Ave).

We hope to see you at the event and have a very good time.
