Blaze Keeps Firefighters Busy

At least six fire departments responded early Wednesday afternoon to a large brush fire off Route D near the St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve county line. Firemen battled the blaze for more than an hour as flames pushed their way through tall dry grass near a neighborhood of homes.
