Confrontation at bar spills over into parking lot

DOE RUN — A confrontation that started inside a local bar early Friday morning resulted in three people being struck by a vehicle, according to the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Dan Bullock said his deputies were dispatched to Wild River at about 1 a.m. Friday in reference to two women and a man being run over in the parking lot.

“Evidently, a confrontation started in the bar,” Bullock said. “When one of the men got out to the parking lot he ran down three people with his vehicle. He ran one of the women and the man completely over.”

Bullock said one of the women and the man were taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The other woman was taken to a local hospital by private conveyance. He did not think any of the injuries were life threatening.

Bullock wasn’t sure what caused the confrontation inside the bar. He said the man’s actions in the parking lot most likely resulted from the combination of alcohol and what had occurred inside the bar.

The sheriff identified the driver of the vehicle as Robert Siegler, 26, Bonne Terre. Bullock said Siegler is being held in jail on an unrelated existing warrant until charges can be filed.
