Thirteen Players from MAAA make All-Region
The Southeast Missouri Sportswriters Association made its selections for the 2009 Southeast All-Region basketball teams for both girls and boys in the five school classes. The Southeast Region contains a total of 54 schools with mostly in Classes 1, 2 and 3.
The 12 schools in the MAAA Conference were well-represented with 13 players being selected, five on first teams and eight on second teams.
Winning both girls and boys districts, Farmington had three players, Lance Miller, Molly Barnes and Taylor Jensen (all seniors), make their respective First Teams in Class 4. Kory Faulkner of Ste. Genevieve was also selected to the Class 4 boys First Team.
Along with a district title, the Bismarck girls received a Class 2 First Team player selection in junior Brooke Taylor.
MAAA players making second team selections in Class 4 are seniors Jordan Thompson and Kassi Hovis from North County, seniors Jake Sikes and Kylie Oertel from Fredericktown, and senior Tyler Shepard from Potosi.
Zac Priest of West County and Blake Walker of Arcadia Valley were Class 3 second teamers, and Jessica Crocker of Valley made second team in Class 2. All three are juniors.
