Fire destroys two-story home in Farmington
KNOB LICK — A fire destroyed a two-story home south of Farmington near Route DD and U.S. 67.
The fire at 820 Miller Road was reported at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday by a motorist who had seen the fire from U.S. 67.
Wolf Creek Assistant Fire Chief Steve Young said the residents weren’t home at the time of the fire.
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming out of every window in the house. Shortly after they arrived, the walls of the structure collapsed. Young said the home had been burning for some time.
The fire was upgraded from a first-alarm fire to a second-alarm fire due to the wind and the need for additional tankers for water.
The state fire marshal’s office was contacted to determine the cause of the fire.
Wolf Creek was assisted by Park Hills, Doe Run, Farmington, Desloge, Big River, Weingarten, Leadwood, and Leadington fire departments and the St. Francois County Ambulance District.
