Work continues on St. Paul auction

A 1966 Plymouth Fury with 66,000 original miles on it is a big ticket item for this year’s St. Paul Lutheran School auction. The collectible car has a white exterior and red interior and is currently on display at the St. Paul Lutheran School parking lot at the corner of Carleton and Columbia Streets.

The car has been donated in memory of William and Emilie Miller. It is just one of several big items on the slate for the annual auction.

The 14th annual auction will take place May 2, with a musical theme of “Composing our Future.” The proceeds from the auction will help purchase new math textbooks, computer equipment and upgrades, a reading resource teacher’s salary and other items that are not in the school’s current operating budget.

Tickets for the auction can be purchased through St. Paul Lutheran School by calling 756-5147, or by contacting a member of the committee. Tickets are $35 each and include entry to the silent auction beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets include appitizers and drinks, reserved seating, dinner and an oppertunity to bid on the oral auction items. The deadline for reservations and to enter items for the auction is April 17.

Another big ticket item is a hot-air balloon adventure and a trip for two that includes an opportunity for one person to fly a fighter jet.

Items donated by April 17 will be listed in the official auction program as well as the auction web site: stpaulauction.com. The website also provides the business with advertising because of the web page views.

Businesses and individuals have already started donating items for the auction. The collection ranges from party sub sandwiches to overnight stays at the YMCA of the Ozarks, the Magic House and Meramac Caverns tickets, savings bonds and a group trip to Montana.

Students will do their annual themed baskets for the oral auction. A drawing for prizes will also be held with the grand prize of $2,500 cash and a pair of $2,500 earrings from Krekeler Jewelers. Other prizes are available as well. Chances for those items can be purchase now at the at St. Paul School office and from St. Paul students and parents. Drawing tickets are $50 each and only 500 tickets will be sold.

St. Paul is in its 150th year of operation and is educating more than 200 students for the 2008-2009 school year.
