Commission awards roof bid

The Ste. Genevieve County Commission has awarded a bid for the replacement of a portion of the courthouse roof. The roof was damaged during a wind storm last year. Fre-deric Company Inc. was awarded the contract with a bid of $18,775.

The bid was not the lowest, but County Commissioner Garry Nelson said it included removing and disposing of the existing roof and replacing it. The other proposal under consideration involved covering the existing roof materials with new ones.

A contract for copy machines at the courthouse was also awarded during the April 6 meeting. The county will purchase eight machines from Ikon Office Solutions of Cape Girardeau at a cost of $35,715. The contract includes a 48-month maintenance agreement worth $10,800.
