Nearly time to ‘Wiggle, Giggle’
Grab the fishing poles and head to Hager Lake. It’s nearly time for the annual Wiggle and Giggle Kids Fishing Derby.
The Farmington Parks and Recreation department, in cooperation with the Farmington Kiwanis, Taylor Funeral Service, Country Mart, Ryan’s, Pepsi-Cola, Missouri Department of Conservation, Little Caesar’s, Pasta House Company, McDonald’s of Farmington, Steak ‘n Shake, CiCi’s Pizza, C-Barn, and Blake Graphic Arts, is pleased to host the Wiggle and Giggle Fishing Derby for Kids again free of charge on May 9 at Hager Lake in the industrial park.
All kids ages 14 and under accompanied by an adult with a valid Missouri fishing license are invited to participate.
The sponsors have provided some great prizes, which will be awarded at the conclusion of the derby to the young angler in each division who catches the most fish, the largest fish (by weight), the longest fish, and the most unusual catch of the day.
All kids who enter will pick up some great fishing gear. Also, one boy and one girl will leave the derby the proud owners of brand new bikes, compliments of Taylor Funeral Services.
Derby registration begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. on May 9, with the first cast at 8 a.m. Fishing will come to a close at 11 a.m. Immediately following, Missouri Department of Conservation Agent Grant Gelly and MDC Biologist Mike Reid will judge the derby.
