Rebels shoot season low on home course
FARMINGTON — Heavy rain from earlier in the week maintained a lingering effect at Crown Pointe Golf Club on Tuesday, as fairways were highly saturated and several bunkers contained sizable puddles.
But the soggy conditions along the front nine could not slow down the Central Rebels, who easily turned in their strongest cumulative round of the season in a 166-198 conference win over Ste. Genevieve.
Senior teammates Taylor Gray and Rolin Baker shared medalist honors for Central (5-1) with matching scores of 40. Gray drained an 8-foot putt on the par-5 first hole to record the lone birdie for either team.
Cody Barnett posted a 42 and Kody Kimball shot a 44 to complete a balanced top four, while Conner Priest carded a 46 and John Bowers totaled 48 for the Rebels.
Kory Faulkner paced Ste. Genevieve with a 46 and Kyle Arnold finished with a 48. Ryan Mueller and Justin Sexauer each posted rounds of 52.
Farmington 162, Potosi 177
POTOSI — The Farmington Knights picked up another conference win (4-0) on Tuesday with a 162-177 besting of the Potosi Trojans at the Fourche Golf Course. The Knight strung together four scores with only one stroke separating each one.
Sam Effrein took medalist honors with a three-over-par 39, followed by John Schnurbusch at 40, Landon Barks at 41 and Alex Rhodes at 42.
Potosi was led by Madison Smith shooting her career low of 40 with one birdie. Zach Gibson was next at 42, Seth Gibson shot 47 and Nathan Portell scored a 48.
Farmington (6-0) is scheduled to play in its district tournament on Monday. Potosi (5-4 and 2-2 MAAA) will face North County at Terre Du Lac this afternoon.
West County 183, Windsor 183, Valle 192
STE. GENEVIEVE — The West County Bulldogs picked up a win and a tie on Ste. Genevieve’s rain-soaked golf course Tuesday. The Bulldogs and Windsor Owls matched 183’s to both outdo Valle’s 192.
Upon investigating first the scores of the No. 5 players and then the No. 6 players, the two teams remained tied each time, and with no other tiebreaker available they both claimed a tie.
Torey Watson was medalist of the tri-dual meet with a solid 40. Trevor Morgan shot a 44, Kelleam Nations a 49 and Jake Nicholson an even 50 for the Bulldogs’ team score.
Kellen Bader and Kory Donze both scored a 45 for Valle. Michael Rozier shot a 48 and Nick Joggerst scored a 54. Mitch Frieman scored 56, and Zach Ogle a 58.
West County (4-2-1 and 2-2 MAAA) will host Potosi on Thursday, and Valle will host Central this afternoon.
