New radar trailer tracks vehicle speed
The Ste. Genevieve Sheriff’s Department has a new radar trailer that tracks vehicle speed. The trailer clocks the speed of oncoming vehicles and displays the number on an electronic screen mounted above the rig. The sheriff’s department claims the accuracy of the radar trailer is very high.
The sheriff’s department hopes that speeders will see they are over the speed limit as they approach the trailer and will slow down. In addition to tracking speed, the device can be used to count traffic.
The Missouri Department of Transportation paid $8,000 of the $8,400 price tag for the trailer through it’s safety grant program.
