BONNE TERRE — After losing to St. Pius in convincing fashion earlier this season, the North County boys tennis team reversed its fortune against the Lancers with a 7-2 home win on Wednesday.
Four individual matches were decided by two games or less, and the Raiders claimed victory in each. Zach Perry and Jimmy Lashley each posted wins of 8-6, and Tyler Laplant used a late service break to prevail 9-7.
Connor McBride teamed with Perry for a narrow 9-8 decision in a No. 2 doubles contest that concluded with a 7-4 tie-break. Laplant and Michael Hernandez combined for an 8-5 win.
Andrew Blunt defeated Cooper Bacon 8-3 in No. 1 singles action, and Hernandez gave the Raiders a fifth singles triumph in an 8-2 margin.
McBride fell to John Wilson 8-4, while Blunt and Lashley suffered an 8-5 doubles loss.

HILLSBORO — The Fredericktown girls soccer team saw its bid for a second straight road win fall short on Wednesday, and Hillsboro made a first-half goal stand up in a 1-0 shutout.
The Lady Cats generated five shots in the match, but were unable to direct a dangerous chance on goal in the closing minutes. Fredericktown keeper Rachel Settle made 12 saves.
