Elmer Franklin Gipson, 98, of Fredericktown died May 13, 2009 at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown.
He was born July 13, 1910 in Buckhorn, Missouri, a son of David Franklin and Martha (Murray) Gipson.
He was united in marriage to Irma Irene (Huffman).
Mr. Gipson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma Irene Gipson on June 9, 1995; three brothers, Melvin, Lloyd and Everett Gipson; and four sisters, Jewell Hovis, Dorothy Wafler, Ruth Fields and Ruby Huffman.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Gipson of Scott City, Missouri; three sisters, Elnora Sanders, Gladys Boettcher and Ophia Whitner all of St. Louis; one granddaughter; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Mr. Gipson was a farmer and raised livestock.
He loved to read and watch ball games on television; He was an avid Cardinals fan.
Mr. Gipson was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Buckhorn.
Services were held May 16, 2009 at Wilson Funeral Home with Brother Johnny Clemons and Brother Billy Wiggins officiating. Burial was at Farquhar-Graham Cemetery in Buckhorn.
Pallbearers were: Don Martin, Dustin Martin, Rob Gipson, Alan Gipson, David Sanders and Randy Sanders.
