K-9 officer sniffs out marijuana

DESLOGE — Desloge K-9 Officer Wyatt sniffed out 60 plus grams of marijuana during a drug seizure last week according to Police Chief James Bullock.

“Corporal Dustin Cash had developed some information about drug activity taking place at a residence located in the 100th block of Desloge Drive,” Bullock said. “Officers Adam Houston, Cord Blumenstock and Dan Russell went to the residence to perform a ‘knock and talk.’ When they made contact with the resident, the resident signed a consent form to search the property.”

Bullock said during the search Wyatt sniffed out the marijuana.

“Thirty-five grams or more is considered a felony,” he said. “So that was a pretty good size amount. The officers also found drug paraphernalia, two weapons and $550 in cash.”

Bullock said a 31-year-old Desloge man was arrested and is facing probable charges of sale and manufacture of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon.

In an unrelated incident, two Park Hills residents were arrested for having marijuana. Bullock said Officer Thomas Ward received a call to respond to Hoosier Daddy liquor store in reference to suspicious subjects.

“By the time he got there, the subjects had already left on foot,” Bullock said. “The subjects had been making comments to the cashier that were inappropriate. Officer Ward and Corporal (Sean) Roney found the subjects near Cowling Street. They had alcohol and were consuming it in public. When the officers made contact with the men, they discovered marijuana on them.”

Bullock said two 47-year-old Park Hills men were arrested for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
