Bulldogs 5, Outlaws 1
LEADWOOD — Cole Ziegler connected on a two-run homer in the first inning, and the Leadwood Bulldogs snapped a recent losing skid on Thursday night with a 5-1 Bantam League victory over the Farmington Outlaws.
Ty Simily recorded the maximum 15 strikeouts over five innings while pitching a two-hitter for the win. Simily also had a double and single at the plate, while Ziegler added a single in a multiple-hit effort.
Riley McWilliams doubled and Cameron Stevens matched Seth Weiss with singles for the Bulldogs (5-7).
Cameron Friend picked up both hits, including a double for the Outlaws (4-7).
Titans 14, Oilers 0
LEADWOOD — Bryce Pruitt tossed a no-hitter with seven strikeouts, and received plenty of powerful support from hits teammates Thursday night as the Leadwood Titans rolled past the Valley Oilers 14-0.
Jared Jones homered twice and Matt Momot drilled another among his two hits in the contest. Nathan Hollock also circled the bases while going 3-for-3 overall to lead the Titans (9-2).
Tate Roberts, Garret Bowen, Cory Davis, Noah Vinson and Pruitt also contributed singles to the victory.
CAL RIPKEN LEAGUE
Jaguars 16, Steamers 5
CALEDONIA — Ian Powers enjoyed a four-hit performance including a triple and double, and the Farmington Jaguars downed the Valley Steamers 16-5 on Thursday night for their second victory of the summer.
Winning pitcher Daniel Snider reached base three times with two singles and a walk, and Tyler Scales collected two hits for the Jaguars (2-7).
Blake Casteel and Logan Lucas each singled for the Steamers.
Royals 15, Spartans 0
PARK HILLS — Brett Chapman kept the visiting Potosi Spartans bats silent with a five strike-out, no-hit, five-inning game for the Park Hills Royals who won 15-0 and evened up their record at 6-6. Chapman was also 2-2 at the plate.
The Royals had 12 hits in all with Nick Haney doing the most damage, going 3-3 with two doubles and a home run. Jason Asher and Kody Lachance both hit triples, Austin Beavers, Brennan White, Brandon Richardson, Austin Thebeau and Jake Chapman had one single each.
The Royals will play next on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a make-up game with the Arcadia Valley Cougars at the Park Hills Sports Complex.
