County to hire assistant assessor

Ste. Genevieve County will be getting an assistant assessor. The county commission approved the proposal made by Assessor Clem Donze and Linda Wagner, deputy assessor/ assessor elect. The county will hire Fred McGruder to fill the position. The hire is connected to Donze’s planned retirement on Aug. 31.

The salary for the job is $38,000. According to officials, McGruder has 23 years experience with the State Tax Commission of Missouri and an additional four years experience with Cape Girardeau County.
